CROATIAN INSTITUTE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CILG) HRVATSKI INSTITUT ZA LOKALNU SAMOUPRAVU
The Osijek based Croatian Institute for Local Government (Hrvatski institut za lokalnu samoupravu) is an organization established in 1998 for the sake of studying and promotion of the idea and practice of local self-government in the Republic of Croatia. It is founded as a non-profit association of local and regional self-government units (counties, cities and municipalities), colleges and other scientific and expert institutions, and scientific and expert individuals scientifically or expertly engaged in the problems of local and regional self-government.
Within the Institute, the members work on the instigation and development of local and regional self-government in the Republic of Croatia and on qualification of local and regional self-government units for the management of functioning and development of their own since these are the main objective of joint activity.
The Croatian Institute for Local Government organizes and implements programmes of education and qualification, organizes expert and scientific gatherings, organizes the research and other forms of tracking and studying of local and regional self-government units, establishes and keeps records of databases, organizes and provides advisory and other forms of expert assistance, issues expert publications, participates in the promotion of international cooperation, etc.
Croatian Institute for Local Government was the host of the 19th Annual Seminar and General Assembly of ENTO in 2006 in Osijek.
