On 3rd March 2017 a delegation of ENTO Bureau met Jutta Gutzkow, Head of the Centre of expertise for local government reform, and Alina Tatarenko, Deputy Head. They informed us that the 6th edition of CoE-ENTO summer school is not going to be financially supported by the Centre. In the past five years summer school showed to be a valuable occasion for meeting and sharing methodologies and approaches to training. Thanks to the support offered by the Centre of Expertise many ENTO members had the chance to participate also under economically convenient conditions. During ENTO bureau meeting held in March 2017, it was discussed how to cope with such a change. It was decided to try new ways to offer ENTO members some opportunities comparable with summer school. Two are specifically available for 2017: 1. Summer school on “Good governance” organized by the National Association of Municipal Clerks in Bulgaria in cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (Germany), which will be held in Sofia (Bulgaria) on 12-13 July 2. “Forum for local democracy in Ukraine”, which will take place from 3 to 7 July in the region of Kyiv, organized by the Congress of local and regional authorities and hosting specific sessions led by ENTO. As we personally did during the meeting in Strasbourg, we do heartily thank Centre of Expertise for the precious support granted to the CoE-ENTO summer school during last 5 years and we do really hope there will be soon the possibility to start new form of cooperation.
As usual when Pierre Petit and the Conseil Regionale de la Formation de la Region Wallonie (www.crf-wallonie.be) take the lead, ENTO Conference and General Assembly cannot be defined less than “marvellous”!
2016 ENTO Conference was a great opportunity to discover the wallonian system for vocational training. We had the chance to visit different sites of Le Forem (www.leforem.be), but also to discover the beautiful landscape of the Wallon Region and its capitol city, Namur.
Plans for the future
During 2016 General Assembly, Representatives of ENTO members had the chance to discuss of future plans for strenghtening cooperation and innovative approach in the field of training for local and regional authorities.
